I decided to donate any profits I made from the sale of my first book ‘Buddy and Tilda’ to charity and wanted to split this between two charities that were important to me and relevant to the book Hope rescue and Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity. There is more information about each of these charities below.

For my second book ‘Buddy’s Christmas Treat’ I decided to change tact and donate £1 from every book sale to charity; this means when I sell books in the hospital £1 will be donated to the hospital or if I sell books at a rescue event all profits will be donated to the event I am attending. Online sales will continue to be split between the charities noted. I changed my approach in part because I ran into some difficulty due to directly naming the two charities on the back page of my first book ‘Buddy & Tilda’ and found that other organisations were less willing to promote the book; so hopefully this resolves this issue but still allows me scope to donate to charity with every sale.

Hope Rescue, is a dog welfare charity that takes in stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs from across South Wales. The team also actively campaign for improvements to animal welfare legislation and enforcement, and provides support and advice to the public on responsible dog ownership. Buddy was taken in at Hope Rescue when he was just two weeks old with his Mum and 11 other puppies. After being fostered through the rescue Buddy became part of our family in July 2021.

Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity is the charity that supports the 10 hospitals that make up Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Hospital. I have worked in the NHS since 2008 in different roles but mainly being employed through this hospital. I was keen that part of any monies raised were donated to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children as the staff that work there are amazing and passionate about supporting children through their healthcare journey.
